The general members of the FNCSI are the cottage and small industries registered in the respective government authorities of Nepal . Currently 30,000 general members including 7,000 women entrepreneurs are associated in the 70 district chapters of FNCSI network. Besides, the national level Commodity Associations have their own membership network; the central level commodity associations only are the institutional members of the FNCSI. As for the micro enterprises the registered operational groups of micro entrepreneurs in the concerned authorities can obtain the general membership.

Though not yet defined by law, Micro enterprise with fixed capital not exceeding NRs. 200,000 working at local level utilizing local raw materials and labors with total employees not exceeding ten person and electrical power consumption utilizing less than 5 KW. The registered group of such enterprises can only be the general members of the FNCSI.

Local human resource and raw material based traditional industries reflecting country's indigenous art and culture.

Small scale industries (SSI) with capital size (fixed assets) not exceeding NRs. 30 millions but not the cottage industries.
